Bonner Center for Character Education at California State University, Fresno, articulates a statement of beliefs about character education and the teaching profession. The Center sponsors the "Virtues and Character Recognition Award" and highlights promising practices in elementary and middle schools.

Center for the Advancement of Ethics and Character at Boston University School of Education offers helpful resources for educators including the Internalizing Virtue Framework. 

Center for the 4th and 5th Rs at the SUNY Cortland School of Education promotes a 12-Point Comprehensive Approach to teaching character education.

Character Development Foundation
The purpose of this organization is to promote ethical integrity in young people and adults, for the betterment of individuals and community. Their link to “Teacher Education” offers practical suggestions for implementing character education training in teacher preparation activities.

Character Education in Teacher Prep Programs at Faith-Based Institutions    Researchers from the Character Education Partnership (CEP) and the Center for the Advancement of Ethics and Character at Boston University found that colleges and universities with religious affiliation are more committed to character education than secular institutions (Finding Seven from Teachers as Educators of Characters).   This summary report offers more information about the topic.

The Character Education and Civic Engagement Technical Assistance Center (CETAC) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools. CETAC Online provides state program administrators, local educators, and the public with information on character education and civic engagement, as well as strategies that support academic goals and other reform efforts.

Character Education Partnership (CEP) is a nonpartisan coalition of organizations and individuals dedicated to developing moral character and civic virtue in our nation's youth.  They have published Character Education: The Foundation for Teacher Education, and other resources that address character education training in teacher preparation programs.

The Ethics Resource Center promotes ethical leadership worldwide through research, education and partnerships. Through their character development programs, they offer resource materials, consultation and assessment of character development initiatives in school settings.

The Hardee Center for Leadership and Ethics in Higher Education fosters the development of higher education leaders who are committed to public service, ethical responsibility, social justice and leading with vision and purpose.  They publish the Journal of College and Character to inform professional colleagues, students, and friends about research and educational programs related to moral and civic learning in college.

The LeaderShape Institute trains young adults to increase their commitment to acting consistently with core ethical values, personal values and convictions.  Character education is a fundamental component of their curriculum.  Independent research conducted by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation found LeaderShape, Inc. to be an exemplary program for integrating leadership training and character development.
